<Resolved>Sub Category issue with osshaft_colors theme
« on: February 05, 2014, 12:41:00 am »
Hello, when I try to add a new listing to my classifieds site the only dropdown menu that appears is the parent category.  There is no dropdown menu for the sub categories.  It's the same for logged in users creating a new listing.  Is this normal for this theme to only allow one category choice?  Here is the link:

here is a screenshot from osshaft_colors.
Dropdown works fine for categories/ sub-categories.

I also activated it at: www.osshaft.org. try it out. Forgive that some category icons are missing. never bothered to create them.

Well that is strange.  What file is this related to so I can take a look to see if mine is an older version?

Tom, I just removed my original copy of osshaft_colors from my server and did a fresh install from the download at this link:
http://www.osshaft.org/oc-content/downloads/osshaft_colors.zip
then I changed my theme under Appearance>>manage themes to the new install and I still see this when I try to post a new free listing.

I thought based on your first screen shot it was from the admin side ad post. In admin there is a main category and sub-category dropdown. From your second post screenshot it is from the public side ad post (File- item-post.php).

Category choice has always been a single dropdown.
User can chose main category if allowed by admin and if not allowed then main category is un-clickable forcing a sub-category choice. I never seen the need to have separate dropdowns in ad post.

Only themes I can think of that offer that are the twitter and repurpose but this function is very buggie in both themes.

Sorry for the confusion.

Tom, thanks for the reply.  I get it now.  I've put the public posting through a series of tests and everything seems to go where it is supposed to.  Thanks for all your help and patience with me.  Now on to my other project using osshaft_adrian.
