Modifying OSClass for car pooling/ride sharing

This thought just came to my mind. Ride sharing/car pooling is similar to classified ad with one person giving something and another one taking something. I'm thinking to start a local car pooling website. Since there are no opensource script for pooling I thought what if I modify OSClass for it?
I used osclass about a year ago and recently downloaded it for use.  So I don't have much in-depth knowledge about OSClass. I was wondering if I can get help from the community.

Based on my experience with CMS and Osclass, I believe this can be modifying theme, without touching core files. Possibly add plugins to extend capability. As of current I'm looking to start a basic without much bells and whistles. 
Lets pour our ideas.

I do not think there should be any complications doing such websites, everything should already be ready in osclass, you may need to modify some design parts.

The first thing that is bugging me is that it will look like classified site. So, i want to know if there is anything that can be done to improve user experience and make it less like classified site.

Bumping this tread.
I have finally started work on ridesharing portal from OSclass. With few design tweaks and by adding custom fields I'm somewhat able to give it ride-sharing feel. But I found out OSClass is missing personal messaging or p/m feature which is big draw back/ any free alternatives for it ?

There is plugin for personal messaging - paid, but I think there used to be also free one, not sure.

I gave a look to premium one. Based on user's comment it lacks features and is expensive imo.
The website of Free PM plugin is down and seems like it hasn't been updated since a time, plus couldn't find file.
PM is really in important function and should have been built into core. I hope OSclass dev team will do it in next release.

It is important only in some cases and therefore it cannot be included in core.

Just my opinion. This would make site more social and user don't have to leave the site.
Found PM plugin in osshaft website. PM work but I'm redirected to blank page after hitting send box. Will look over the the plugin later.
