Posting ads in Firefox and IE
« on: January 04, 2012, 01:54:30 pm »
Hey,

OSClass works perfectly with Chrome first of all, everything there is great :)

But with Firefox I have this problem: https://github.com/osclass/osclass-themes/issues/13 which was closed a month ago by the admin. I don't think there was any solution. The problem here is that when I'm trying to post an ad with Firefox it tells me "invalid category" when posted, even though I've chosen main category (the sub categories doesn't show up in either of the browsers but works in Chrome).

In IE (I only tried 9 and 10) I can't post any ad because I'm unable to choose city. After choosing a region the city will still be left grey so it's not clickable.

Anyone has any solutions?

That's a tough one, because I've done a lot of work with OSClass, and 100% of it has been with Firefox. I've had no such problems.

Oh well that's not the answer I has hoping for :)

I've been setting this site up and testing it mostly with Chrome, and everything there works almost flawlessly. But with IE9 and FF I still have some major issues. It's crucial that the users are able to at least register and post ads.

I'll be donating later this month to show my appreciation. I really love this system and hope that these bugs can be fixed so I can rely my ads sites on Osclass :)

I know your pain... I've spent similar time building up sites in Firefox, then go to test them in IE, just to find out nothing works!  :o

Can I try your site out? You can IM me the link if you don't want to post it here.  ;)

Yeah you can never test your code too much :)

The site is currently on http://wingmedia.se/ytodemo/user/register

Thank you!

That's very odd... you're missing part of your page, including the "Submit" button to register, so I can't even register.  ???

I looked at the source code for the page, and there is no code after this line:

Code: [Select]
<label for="Company">Company name</label>

.... which means, there is something wrong somewhere around that line.

Exact same issue when trying in Internet Exporer.... it looks like you have Company Name duplicated somehow.

Yeah I know, this is what happens when I activate the "required fields at registration"-plugin.

Now I have deactivated it, so you should be able to register..

Ok, that let me get through the registration page successfully. Although I didn't receive a confirmation/activation email (using a Yahoo email address), so when I try to login, it just says "The user is not validated yet". But I suppose that's a whole separate issue from this one.

Thanks for the help, I haven't setup the mail server properly since it's on our test server :)

I've activated your account if you wanna try again, thanks for your time!

Awesome, thanks!  ;D

I tried to post an ad, but as you probably know, it wont let me choose a category.

So now I must ask, in oc-admin, under Categories >> Settings, do you have the option "Selectable parent categories" checked? If not, that is probably the problem!  ;)

Hey again Jesse, thank you so much for putting an effort into helping me, I really appreciate it!

I have the "Selectable parent categories" checked since I installed it, haven't even unchecked to check it's function. Didn't wan't to mess with stuff I don't get, at least not until I have a stable version to backup :)

This also occurs in IE, but not with the categories, but with the locations. I'd love to understand more of the Osclass structure, but I'm having some trouble fixing the hard coding parts of this system, I'm more into designing and css-coding, but I enjoy learning some more php and mysql.

This is kind of a bump, but I need to find a solution.. Because users using IE/Firefox can't post any ads.. So I'm wondering, is it possible to make the subcategory/city NOT required fields when added?

This will only be temporary, but I need all users to be able to post ads. Thanks!
