I am having difficulty installing osclass on a managed server hosted at 1and1.
The install program checks the software requirements, then goes on to ask for database details. When entered I get the following error
"Osclass database server is not available. Need more help?"
I know this means it cannot access the database, but I am at a loss as to why. The details entered are correct and I have successfully used them to install other applications. The database was created using myphp prior to starting the installation and is empty.
I have attached a copy of the details as entered for reference.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Have you tried setting as Host only "localhost"? ???

Hi, teseo
Yes. I have also tried using the hosts ip , as well as adding the port number to the address.
I am confident of the address as the details were taken from myphp admin.
It is also the address used to successfully install other applications which are currently working.

I don't think Osclass is expecting any port there, "localhost" should be enough. Anyway, take a look a your database using PhpMyAdmin, is still totally blank, no tables at all? ???
If your database has been just half-built, maybe it's some timeout problem. Did you try to add locations in the install step?
Going to bed now, sorry. Regards

@stevef
Host port as you used is old, it stoped for me to work 1 month ago in my hosting. Instead of that you need to use "URL like" format, get in touch with support for your hosting, they will help you.
