OSClass NOT installing - remains on install screen

I uploaded the files and set-up the DB. Everything is correct. I did this twice now. Hosted on a good VPS server, no GoDaddy here.

Here's the problem.

The site tell me "Osclass isn't installed. Need more help?"

When I click "Install" nothing happens. Remains on the same screen (...com/oc-includes/osclass/install.php)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've gone through the forum for several hours and didn't find anything.

I did this now three times with different DBs and different Users.
The DBs are always empty which makes sense since installation can't begin.

I know DB credentials are correct.

Why don't you open a ticket with your hosting company ?

restart the whole process, clean database. make sure the username/passwords are correct.

VPS doesn't mean that it has the correct DB, or support for OSCLASS.

"Aficionado" - 3rd party software support is not offered by hosting providers.
"design" - The DB setting were all correct. OSclass is supported and offered by the host.
"frosticek" - my test bench is with iPage, they're horrible. My main host is Site5.

Having spent nearly two days on this and OpenCart. I decided to go another direction.

dont do third party installs - EVER, do it manually. it's not that hard to upload a zip file- or unzipped file, and create a database with user name and password. use your browser to go to the site, everything else is automatic. easy peasy

"design" - thanks for the advice, I did install it manually, I generally avoid any auto self installs. I did the manual install several times. Did exactly as explained and received the posted error messages.

you need to give "us" more information, hosting company, php version, db version. this script is pretty easy on modern servers except for free hosts. only issue that normally comes up is imagemagick.

MySQL version   5.5.40-36.1-log

The server isn't free, it's a paid VPS which I use for final projects.
Hope this helps. Also tried doing the same thing with iPage (garbage) and it also did not work.
