Display a "show more.." option under categories

Hi guys,

I have 9 main categories and multiple sub categories under each of them.
What im trying to do is i trying to restrict the sub category view to 5 each and display a "Show More.." option under them.

I was able to restrict the sub categories to 5 by modifying the main.php file, but im unable to figure out how to display the show more option.

PLease help.
