Title: [IMPORTANT] GLOBAL thread of problems with plugins [MUST READ/PARTICIPATE]
Post by: _CONEJO on February 20, 2014, 11:07:26 am
Hi,

I've been a bit disconnected from the forum lately, and I lost track of errors with plugins. I want to fix that situation so I'm asking for your help here.

Just write here the problem you've encountered with the plugins, only of plugins on the market. I'm sorry, if a plugin is not in the market it's not made by us and you should contact the author directly. Some of the plugins in the market are not made by the Osclass team, but by contributors, I will try to communicate them your problems.

You must answer this questions:

Please, only for version 3.2 and higher of Osclass.

No comments here like "yeah this happens to me too", just answer the questions above, any other comment not following that template will be deleted. Let's keep this clear.

facebook connect has a fix, it needed a few things to themes for it to work. ie the logout...
i'll post it later, perhaps inside the admin area a  code sample code be added

all the attributes, have database removal issues. we have just found it easier to recommend the custom attributes. but that could use an upgrade as well- it works(ish), just old and limited.

also the plugins that do work, but require a little more know how, could use some admin tips

also, another fix thats available is for the premium plugin. as it is now, it works, but it is not "seen" instantly. user must dig around to find it. this fix we have involves core modifications, but it allows for the option to be available at the time of posting. USER FRIENDLY.

so what i propose, is something what you do in bender... as a bad example; the category "description", it's there IF you use the helper in the theme. If you have the options available in the core, but an i/o when the plugin is activated in the admin settings.

would you like the links to all of these fixes? github is just not working for me on this computer. I know you explained it, and I'm fairly decent at following directions, but it's just not compatible.

this thread was read forty-two thousand times. :o Im guessing every one is using the third party plugin, because this plugin doesn't work...
http://forums.osclass.org/sitemap-generator/a-little-problem-with-sitemap-plugin-(does-not-index-all-url)/
I'm not sure if going by how many times a post was read, but as I have done how-do-you-fix-this searches i would assume that thread comes up quite often lol

am I covering everything or are there any more PLUGIN issues? I know the core and theme will be a whole other can of worms.

lets start with something simple..the social plugin? is there anyplace that says you should add header information, or the appID's
now we get access errors

as I said the plugins work, they just need more information on how to use them.
example:
Code: [Select]
// facebook add your application ID, replace **** in script src url
        $content .= '<li class="facebook"><div id="fb-root"></div><script src="http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1&appId=****"></script><fb:like href="" send="false" layout="button_count" show_faces="false" font=""></fb:like></li>' ;

even the simplest of Facebook best practices
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph/howtos/maximizing-distribution-media-content

if the user is going to get social, don't let them get a way with half-assing it. ETA- Im working this weekend -I don't like to work weekends >:(

I have problem with the Watchlist Plugin. I installed it on Osclass 3.3.2 and call it on the item-sidebar.php. If I click on the Add to Watchlist, the text changes to View Watchlist after which if I click on View Watchlist, it brings error 400 Bad Request.

Though I have asked this in a topic: http://forums.osclass.org/plugins-20/watchlist-plugin-showing-error-400/msg88407/#msg88407

but solution provided there only lands me back to content of homepage instead of taking to watchlist.php.

Though am still testing this on localhost, some helps would be appreciated.

I'm sure it will save us many hair pulling moment.

I installed your version of watchlist, it generated this error:
fatal error: call to undefined function bootsnap_classic_add_boddy_class() in line 29 of watchlist.php

Can you help me to solve this?

@haryour what theme are you using?

there looks like a misspelled word
function bootsnap_classic_add_boddy_class()

should be "body"

@design
Yeah! That is how it is declared on line 29 of your version of watchlist.php in message 9 above.
 I use bender.

Anyway, I removed it and everything seem to work. I hope it does no harm to the plugin.

@tomshaft
I installed your version, it is not working on my 3.3.2 version and bender theme. After installation, if i click on 'view your watchlist' it generates error 400 - bad request.
I changed the '?' request operator to '&', yet it returns to index page.
So, i downloaded design version in msg 9.

Check around line 29 of file watchlist.php inside the watchlist plugin you uploaded on this thread (msg 9).

Location Required plugin not working. Downloaded and installed plugin just fine but still lets me leave location fields blank. Tried Chrome, Firefox and IE browsers. I am using OSClass vers. 3.3.2 but also tried it on version 3.3.1. Real Estate theme 1.2.0. Tried Location plugin versions 1.0.2 and 1.0.4 I'm hosted by x10hosting.com

I have read that thread many times and believe I have tried everything posted. But have had no luck getting Location Required plugin working for Real Estate Theme. I'll have some time tonight and will re-read it again and see if I come up with something I didn't try. But to me, if it takes this kind of work to get the plugin working..., then there is a problem with the plugin.

are you the only one having this issue with the plugin? I don't have it, so if you see a bunch of other people just dropping the use of it, then yes, there is a problem with it. but before we go there ask trains - he is here all the time as forum moderator, and coincidentally, the creator of this plugin.

With version 3.3.2 does not respect the results of the research, see all the ads.

so no one has to read through all the "fixes" that will undoubtedly get posted in here.

[SOLVED] May be a little late adding my two cents but the youtube video plugin works very well for the website but does not resize when viewing on the mobile phone. I tried several things and nothing seems to work to resolve the issue. The work around is to have the mobile size player on the website but it looks a little weird with respect to its small size though it can then be easily viewed on the mobile phone.

Here is the code:

Code: [Select]
<?php if( isset($detail['s_youtube']) && !empty($detail['s_youtube']) ) { ?>
<div>
    <h2 style="margin-top: 10px;"><?php _e('And This Is My Whoop Whoopler YouTube Video''youtube') ; ?></h2>
    <object width="300" height="300">
        <param name="movie" value="<?php echo trim($detail['s_youtube']) ; ?>"></param>
        <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param>
        <param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param>
        <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param>
        <embed src="<?php echo $detail['s_youtube'] ; ?>"
          type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
          allowfullscreen="true"
          allowscriptaccess="always"
          wmode="transparent"
          width="300" height="300">
        </embed>
    </object>
</div>
<?php ?>

As you can see I had to reduce the viewer to a 300x300 player in order to work for both.

Any suggestions?

I was thinking about plugins and i have an idea. I think every plugin should have screenshots of operation from admin perspective (backend) and also from user perspective (frontend) because that way it would be easier to find if some control element is missing and if something went wrong.

Php 5.0

Osclass 4.3.1? You are posting from the future? :) I guess you mean 3.3.1.
PHP 5.0 is extremely old, PHP 5.3 should be used at least (and it has EOL status as well).

It doesn't work because you allow 32 mb to Osclass. Osclass can't work with 32 mb of physical memory.
