Currency notation
« on: May 25, 2012, 02:46:46 am »
What if I have multiple currencies but only one language? I mean, people from different countries using international English on my website. So I want them to be able to choose the currency, but the language will remain the same to everybody.

But... I want the symbol to show instead of the 3 letters code for the currency. If I go to "languages" and replace {CURRENCY} for $, all currencies will show as $. And what I want is that GBP shows as £, EUR shows as € and so on...

My suggestion is that the currency settings be detached from language settings in future versions, and that an option like {SYMBOL}{NUMBER} is included...

Thanks Emmanuel,

I have this plugin, that's how I can allow currency choice on my website.

BUT... it does not let me configure the SYMBOL that will be shown near the currency. It still shows as the SHORTNAME of the currency (USD, EUR, GBP, etc).

What I suggested is the possibility to choose whether I want to show the letters OR the symbol, and the order that they'll come (number - letters / number - symbol / symbol - number / letters - numbers). See what I mean?

So far, the way the currency is shown is configured at "Languages" configuration. Not practical for international websites...
