You're right, but you could still use akismet until we find an alternative. Thanks for the article about them. That helped us a lot.

What about Defensio? http://www.defensio.com/

They have a free plan for sites with up to 5 employees and up to 25,000 posts per month.

I got a free key from Akismet, and used it. But then I tried to send a message with lot of words that should have been filtered (or considered spam) but the message went through!!!

So, bottom line is: Akismet doesn't work anymore, and worse: we cannot configure it or ad words we want to be "watched over"...

Not voting for removing it, but I do wish I could have other options...
