mark SOLD BY THE SITE
« on: September 07, 2012, 11:55:56 pm »
Hi all.
There may be a way for the user to have an add on our site, have sold the item and can mark SOLD BY THE SITE and an Upgrade button, then you see in the picture item.php overwritten SOLD BY THIS SITE. It's a good way for the user to gratify us. And makes aware to who hasn't published yet, that posting on our site is a good chance.

I dont like this idea, because this will produce many ghost ads and i think  the user will get angry after finding the third or fourth already sold item, which was maybe suitable to him.

So that way you do. That the person placing an ad or visiting, it is shown that a successful site.

I think it would be much better to have a small statisitic on the page sometehing like "successfull classifields last month".

If someone want to see allready sold classfields, then you sould add a filter for only showing this sold things.

just an example: You are going to a local garage sale and you found a very very nice thing (whatever), you really need and like it the price is also very nice. You like to buy it, but then you recognized the small tag on it - its sold :-(
Then you are going to the next garage sale, you will find the same thing, better price, but its also just sold. After that you will hit the roof? Right?

Keep in mind your users are looking for something, they want to spend money, and they dont want to see what is not available right now.

Its also success if there are no classifields on your page, because all of them are allready sold ;-)

In regards to ghost Ads and the disk space it would take, the sold item could say only be left showing for 24hrs perhaps and then the ad expires as it would if it wasnt sold....Just a thought :-)

In terms of people been upset that something they want is sold, I think theyd be more upset if they were watching or bidding on an item and then found out it had already been sold. This would be a useful tool and a time saver for our end users

no sold item should be in another list. In sidebar a list will be present like popular ads and it show only sold items..and remain in the db for say 48-72 hrs...

The idea is that the user instead of deleting the ad, have the option of marking SOLD, DONE , etc. And then within "X" time, it will automatically be deleted. So that can be used all of this? for those who enter our site, see that it is a successful site.
