Customized menus like Wordpress - suggestion
« on: September 26, 2012, 09:22:09 am »
I have a suggestion for future release of OSClass.

Wordpress allows admin to create custom menus. For example, admin can choose which links (internal or external) will display in menu, and admin can also set the text for the displayed link. Custom menus could make it very easy for OSClass admins to create new pages and selectively add them to the menu. As it is now, any new pages created by admin are automatically added to the footer menu. It is not difficult to create a footer menu with desired links, but it would be much cooler if admin could create custom menus (links) that could be inserted into the theme via widgets.

Anyone like this idea?

Thanks Jay: One of the reasons I thought custom menu would be a good feature is because I have found that the site navigation for my users is not so intuitive. I look at my web traffic stats and see that many visitors are using the browser to click back to previous page, rather than going forward through a link on existing page. That tells me that I need to implement a more intuitive site navigation, which would be made much easier with a custom link menu that could be inserted into the theme via hook.
