user aficianado was talking about finding bots using ZBblock. But while searching i found an even simpler way to block popular bots and webscrapers for (almost) complete security of your site.
Just add this in your sites .htaccess. (Do a backup of htaccess before that!)

this will block nearly 90% of all bad bots. you can add more bots to the list by looking into your server logs.
test your site after that. Also make a speed test before and after just to see if the code has slowed your site. Please do give your feedback as it may be useful for others.
