Problems with 3.7.4 and Browser compatibility
« on: August 22, 2017, 04:09:50 pm »
Latetly i had several reports and complains from users about posting images in ads. So i decided to take a look at that problem, during also some site cleanup.

Tried to post an ad and drag-n-drop an image and that didn't work at all. I switched to Bender stock and tried again, same problem.

Then i fired Firefox debuger to check for errors. Apart from updating to 3.7.4 i haven't done any modifincations.

The errors in console:

Use of Mutation Events is deprecated. Use MutationObserver instead.  tiny_mce.js:1:80798

Use of getPreventDefault() is deprecated.  Use defaultPrevented instead.  jquery.min.js:2:40241

Any ideas ?

It seems that Firefox and Edge has problems.

Chrome seems to work (but also shows strange behavior when drag/n/drop an image to upload but the upload is done).

 :'(

upd: this is HUGE problem.

Just to be sure, i installed a brand new osclass 3.7.4 on my dev online site, with not a single plugin and with bender as theme.

Same problem. No drag and drop and several errors in the debugger of Firefox (version 55, 64 bit). Same with Edge.

In ubuntu with firefox the drag and drop works hard, you must not let go of the mouse button until you see that the background changes. I saw this in 3.7.1 but I tought it was from ubuntu/firefox. Anyway it does not work for multiple files drag and drop.

I can't tell when the dragndrop broke. Maybe with some Firefox update or Osclass update or whatever. And it seems that it is not only the drag and drop that is broken. And not only with Firefox but with Edge also.

Go figure. Sad.

And the problem is that around 30% of my traffic uses Firefox and Edge.

Well you should be because it appears that this is not the only problem. Apparently Osclass uses old versions of many libs/scripts and now Firefox and Edge piuks them out.

Hi,

Yes, I'm having those problems too, maybe that old version of Fine Uploader bundled with Osclass, ??? looks like my plugin Pre-resize Images (using a much more recent FU version) is still working, with some minor issue.

yea. i'm testing your plugin to be able to resolve this for the moment. But it seems other also plugins broke Firefox, like the richedit plugin.

All in all, all those OLD versions of everything are starting to backfire on us.

This is the big problem of scripts : updates... When something is working good,  don't change it! But this is against our system...

Anyway the default should be click to add picture. That is my oppinion. On phones , who uses drag and drop?

Not a correct approach, sorry. If it is broken, it is broken and confusing to some users.

With a new virgin Osclass with NO plugins and Bender.

Use of getPreventDefault() is deprecated.  Use defaultPrevented instead.  jquery.min.js:

You are right. I was saying that in default it should be without drag and drop.
