How to update themes ?

Hi everyone,
I would like to ask how do you usually proceed to save time when updating your themes when you have a lot of html and php customizations?
Any tip or trick is welcome,

I'm facing the same "problem" when updating, but the only solution I see is to restart the writen modifications I made, when I want to update osclass and the bender theme.
