where  in the bender css can i change the background color in the head main and footer?

i have cssed editor

that is good, but the tools will help you with the live-selectors, line # etc you can find what you need to change.
bender also has an sass that you should consider using instead of the main.css

you can change anything you want with the theme- it is the core files you want to stay away from.
