feature - custom fields
« on: March 10, 2011, 12:52:52 am »
webmasters/admins should be able to format items the way they need with custom fields. This would eliminate the need for plugins to modify different listing categories.

Also if you could have the option to link two or more custom fields to pull certain data would make for better listings.

For example instead of needing the car plugin for automobile listings and admin would use custom fields and link such fields like make and model

If the custom field method was used instead of plugin method it would make OSClass more appealing to business developers who do not want their particular site or project to look just like every other site using OSClass

Hi,

I created a issue in other bug/task system, you could follow the development here : http://issues.osclass.org/browse/OSCLASS-362

Regarding your comment, the plugins are something needed. The key is the search, with custom fields you can not perform custom searches, nor custom filters. For example you could search a car with 0 doors, but you will not be able to search for a house with 3-5 rooms (no ranges could be applied).

Anyway, that idea was on our minds some time ago, I added it to the task system, so will do it. But as said before, if you want a "better" OSClass system, It's strongly recommended to use plugins.

Thanks for your suggestions
