Error when installing - or trying to install anyway
« on: December 13, 2016, 06:10:08 pm »
Hey everyone,

I'm getting the following error when trying to install: I left out my domain name.

domain [Tue Dec 13 15:04:02 2016] [error] [client 84.194.254.160:46910] AH01215: PHP Parse error:  syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/sites/domain/public_html/test/oc-includes/osclass/utils.php on line 1202: /home/sites/domain/public_html/test/oc-includes/osclass/install.php

I already looked at the file in question but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong there.

Already tried downloading the full package again and re-uploaded but still the same error in my log.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance :)

I believe it's 5.3. I see the problem already then. I'll need 5.6 at least ;)

Ummm... you shouldn't be able to install, the required versions is at least 5.6, 5.3 shouldn't cause any problem, so maybe you are running 5.2?
Could you please check it ?

Again, which version of PHP were you running?
Are you sure you changed your PHP version? No need for server to reload or restart or something?

Current PHP version: 5.2.17

Which is strange as i can update it and no it just seems to reload the page and says:

Choose the PHP version for all .php files on your website to execute as.

Please, update to at least PHP 5.6  , or use an old version of Osclass : Like 3.6.1 http://static.osclass.org/download/osclass.3.6.1.zip

Yes, there's a known security issue in 3.6.1, it's hard to exploit but possible and we do recommend to upgrade to 3.7.0 as soon as you could. I would say you are "safe" using 3.6.1 since it's a XSS, and you have to be specially targeted, but again, I do recommend using Osclass 3.7.0

PHP will drop support for version 5.6 at the end of this month
PHP 5.5 is unsupported since last July, and PHP 5.2 since January 2011
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PHP#Release_history

If your hosting company only allows you to change to an unsupported PHP version... I will run out of it as soon as possible, it's insecure and your sites are at risk. Plus you will get way better performance with PHP 7.0 or higher.

If ANY Hosting doesn't offer PHP 7, then they are NOT a serious business. It will take me long to explain why, PHP 7 is a HUGE benefit for the users BUT ALSO for the Hosting Companies.

90% of the problems i see here the last 3+ years, are due to hosting. Some appear early and some later on.

PHP 5.2 is 10+ years old

Is my problem due to hosting too? Though it installed correctly. I run a php 5.5 and I encounter this problem below

Just installed the new osclass 3.7.1. It Installed successfuly using Softaculous but I'm having one or two problems
1. After the complete installation I login to my admin i.e mysite/oc-admin to upload a theme, i choose my preferred theme from my folder, clicked upload then I got this message "Invalid CSRF token".I tried it again and again on till I finally got the message "your theme   has been uploaded successful" finally! o Boy!  I was happy. I moved to appearance > theme to activate my uploaded theme but when I click on 'activate" it doesn't do anything I mean no activation.when I visit my site the default bender theme is still there.
This stuff happened to the plugins too, I uploaded but can't install

NOTE: I've deleted the whole installation then I reinstall it same thing happened but now my previous uploaded theme and plugin still appears after a new installation which was supposed to have been deleted

Can anyone tell me what's wrong

@ campusmart

Please, avoid spreading your posts like a virus - you have already posted your issue in one topic, no need to infect all the others.

I understand that you have a problem and that it troubles you, but doing this will not help you much.

If you must draw attention to your post, simply place a link to the original post/topic, instead.

And no, I have no idea what is the problem in your setup, could be related to php or some other thing in your system, really hard to tell as I have never had it and cannot reproduce it on my end. Probably this is the reason you still have no response from anyone else.

Maybe you have problem with sessions, your folder write permissions etc. Use forum search and try solutions from older topics.

Thanks

Thanks, the problem is giving me headaches I'm very sorry for spreading post virus lol.  but I've been able to find a solution to it by cleaning/clearing my cache, cookies, history in fact everything then I started all again... Then I encounter another problem I found out that I got logged out of my admin panel every now and then, so when I input my username and password I usually get "invalid CSFR error". Is there any problem with my session or permissions? If so how do I solve it.  Thanks. Ok sorry once again  8)
