Osclass 3 installation Errors
« on: July 09, 2017, 09:20:16 pm »
hi me also faced this issues I changed all thing what you told like permission and mysqli php extension but it wasn't affect anything after I contacted my hosting they told me following

Let me inform you that I have tried to install Osclass  few times, but unfortunately it was without success.
Every time installation stopped before step 2 (Target) and did nothing.
I tried to change PHP version, few settings in php.ini but nothing changed.
As I see the installation script has access to mysql and it created all tables. (I created database and  database user manually in Cpanel. You may found db name, db usrname and password in config.php file)
Also file and folder permissions in public_html are good.

It looks like you need to contact some advanced specialist in Osclass to finish its installation.
Thank you for understanding

After that my host company fixed that also they are replied
Looks like I've managed to set it up for you. Mbstring PHP module was missing. Please, tell osclass team to update their requirements during installation, because there not a single word about mbstring no error appears.

Why mbstring module was missing ? ItShouldn't, it is included and enabled by default usually.

Is that a shared hoisting plan ?

Not Always according to this info: http://php.net/manual/en/mbstring.installation.php

In my experience it also Always was available in package when installing php but it doesn't seems to be 'default'.
Knowing this it might be usefull if there's more documentation about the Osclass server requirements?

I did a quick search but couldn't find it really, did I miss it?

It is defaulted (or enabled) in all shared hosting i have seen so far. And  i have seen/used several in UK and US mostly.

Besides the question included or not, this kind of feedback is valuable.

I can understand the remark, there should be up-to-date server requirements documentation (if this is missing?), including all needed PHP modules, any specific/recommended memory conditions and possibly caching conditions like Opcache/Memcache/APCu, DB conditions and possible Server Rewrite conditions.

There IS a lot of info available, why not use 1 server / hosting pre-requirements doc?
There is none inside the downloaded package, see attached image.

It is true that most help docs and info is outdated. yes.

And also a lot of info should be PINNED here in the forums. That only could save half of the posts/traffic/replies.

I think the package should include some sort of readme file where this info can be found.

It's not that much info but for especially newbies and hosting companies this info is much needed and preferably in one simple place available. This will help fix any installation issues faster by being able to rule out any installation requirements issues.

Imo this also is needed for email requirements per possible mail host based on what we know already thanks to forum posters.

True. For example we do know that the default GMAIL option should be removed.

@_CONEJO, in case you are reading this, do you agree?

I have some time available (unfortunately) and can start a doc based on what I know/find but I would need the confirmation this doc will be added to future download packages of Osclass.

AFAIK, gmail is not the default option, it's the local server : https://github.com/osclass/Osclass/blob/master/oc-includes/osclass/installer/basic_data.sql#L48
which in most cases (shared/managed) should work out of the box, but people using VPS is more and more common, without configuring/installing a proper email server, we probably should remove it, but people will complain anyway that the emails are not working.

I'm not sure people read any file before installing any software, requirements are not that much, we may need to include in the installer, but if you do it, we'll include it in the download/package.

mbstring is requried by Osclass, you need to install and enable it in your server, you can not "clear" the error without installing and enabling the mbstring extension.
