Setting permissions in Osclass 2.3.4
« on: January 06, 2012, 06:54:29 pm »
Hi there,

Im installing osclass 2.3.4 (clean installation). I have uploaded at my remote hosting and for some reason the permissions have changed. Do you know what permissions have I to give to folders and files?? I guess by default are 755 for folders (no recursive) and 644 for files even inside the folders... is it right?
Thanks.

PS. Sorry, I guess this message should be at http://forums.osclass.org/installation-update-help/

Hi rzk,

Those permissions sound ok to me. It should work and be secure.

It is what I thought but still getting this:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /mysite/oscx/oc-includes/osclass/install.php on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache mod_qos/9.69 mod_fcgid/2.3.6 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at cocobongos.es Port 80

changed install.php to 755 and after 777 and getting the same. any idea?

I read every post about this problem but I still don't find the solution

This is strange osclass should work on hostgator as I have heard of others using it on there. I would go back and double check the permissions on the folders of oc-includes and osclass. Maybe also check the permissions on the oscx folder as well.

Im sure it is working on hostgator. I run it before. But now Im trying to run a new installation. And for one reason folders are set up with 700 permiss. So, could you tell me if I set with 755 (everything) folders and files recursive should work? Do you thing if I do that I will get risk in some way ?
Or its better 755 folders and 644 files?

I think for the install it would be fine to run with all files and folders at 755 or 777 but I would say after you install change the permissions back to 755 on the folders and 644 on the files.
