Transfer OSClass installation to another server
« on: November 07, 2012, 03:37:39 am »
Hello everyone,

I have move copied all files to a new server, transfered the database (through Export & Import in .sql format using PHPMyAdmin) and changed the config.php file to include all the new login credentials and db host information.

The result is a "OSClass isn't installed. Need more help?" message with an "Install" button underneath...

Any suggestions anyone plz?

Regards

Hi synopsys,

Seems to me that you followed all the steps, please make sure the information at the config.php file is correct (database name, username, password,.... and PREFIX, I usually forget to change the prefix)

I have been trying this on and off for over a month now, and nothing seems to work. I have done a fresh install copied all the files over. I just copied the files over and SQL DB and uploaded to new server, I have backup up and tried import don't work. All I have is a new install with none of my listings. I have tried everything I know but can access the listing they are there in the DB but the instll will not read them, the are in the content.

Any help out there?

1.- Dump your database information with mysqldump, phpMyAdmin or whatever you use
2.- Import database information to new server
3.- Move files to new server, change config.php to point to your new database
4.- Enjoy

I have now been trying for nearly 2 months on and off, I have read everything and tried everything i can think of and still the listings do not show, if i enter a new listing it's there. I have checked the DB and the listing are in there, is the an index file that points to the listings.
I transfer my Wordpress Site in about 2 hours no problems. But cannot transfer OSclass with all the data. Now I have to keep two hosting plans running, which has defeated the money saving move.

As I already told you, the information for the database connection is done in config.php. If that information is correct, then you should see your listings. If you are able to publish a new listing and it's on the database, the rest of the listings should be on that database/table too. Are there any more listings or only the new ones? If there's only the new ones, then you did not configure it properly or didn't import your database correctly.

HOW do you export and import your database ?
