If you only have locations for one region, you will only be able to add listings under these location.

Not so...here is a link to my new installation...the database has ONLY michigan in it and ONLY upper state cities...yet as a test user I was able to post a new add from Dallas Texas

http://uppermichiganclassifiedads.com/

there is ONLY ONE AD on that page under COMPUTERS-HARDWARE and you can see it shows Dallas Texas as the location entered on the ad submission form...it DOES NOT however show up in the side bar which I have coded to show for cities and NOT regions or states

I DO NOT want this to be allowed...I would rather a message show when they submit that ONLY upper michigan cities can post and prevent them from listing if they do not comply

I am also in Michigan and I also seen this. Enter Adrian Mi. and you WILL get Adrian Tx. Only way I "solved' this was to remove everything from database locations and manually enter in the state and cities we wanted back into admin side for a real estate site.

That sounds as if the DB is having either the wrong states or the delete is not working properly when removing the other states  8)

Tom's solution will do the trick for now.

I have fixed this problem www.uppermichiganclassifiedads.com now ONLY michigan is in any drop down which prevents any sign up or posts outside of Michigan  ;D

The problem I am having now is with email on registration...if I test sign up from gmail or any of my domains I get the confirmation email just fine and get logged in...but...NOT SO WITH YAHOO...no yahoo email account used for sign up gets a confirmation email to validate the sign up...WEIRD!?!

Well, if mail IS working from within OsClass you should also want to check if this is mail-host related or even Yahoo related considering OsClass mails as spam(?).

Nope...not spam...no email was sent to ANY yahoo test account, several of them tried; another thread here said yahoo does not let in script generated emails...that is not true, I have signed up many sites using them...I FINALLY FIGURED THIS OUT...it is NOT and OSclass problem...it can't be if other types of emails go out...the issue had to be confined to Yahoo...and as techs we should know to check the simple things first...but we drop the ball sometimes on that LOL...the IP THAT I WAS USING WAS BLACKLISTED BY YAHOO...check the ip in the email bounceback and google that then use this to check black list http://whatismyipaddress.com/blacklist-check If it shows any black list contact your hosting company immediately and let them know so they can negotiate getting it delisted...that can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days depending on the problem associated with the ip address and who the hosting company is.
