pagination wrong with permamlinks ON

hi,

Anyone else have problems with the pagination at the end of the search results page i.e. search by region.  When there are 2 pages of results for example clicking [2] instead goes to an item detail page instead of page [2] of the search results. With Permalinks off everything works OK.

Once again seems like permalinks screw everything up in the modern theme. Even v3.3 latest.

Anyone know of fix???
