What is the most stable Theme
« on: April 26, 2014, 10:04:03 pm »
I'm new and trying to learn about osclass. So far I've managed to install osclass and tried all available themes. I like Bender, Repurpose, and of course Modern but I can't quite finalize my choice until I learn a bit more about them. I want to see if users of Modern are happy with it and what type of issues i might run into down the road. Appreciate any bit of info I can learn about modern. TIA

Thanks for the comments guys. Nice themes, frosticek! I like all three but Tatiana would work best for my purpose. However, I have found Joomla and its many choices of classified components which I think are easier to manage then osclass especially the back up and restore of any site. Using the Akeeba component to accomplish that is a breeze. Osclass seems a bit faster response and light weight application but I am just afraid to get into osclass as I see myself having a hard time finding help when I need it especially in my case being that I'm an absolute noob with no coding skills.

Thanks, remember that script that was not made for classifieds will fail with higher volume of listings so choosing different script that osclass is telling yourself you will not succeed :/

Sounds like you're pretty true and committed to osclass. That is a good thing. Maybe I'll give one of your templates a try.

It may be crap but it doesn't take a programmer to fix stuff and people are willing to jump in and help. I tried osclass' backup and import data and both are not efficient as joomla's. As a matter of fact the import data component for osclass didn't work for me at all. I saved a copy of my my database then I intentionally deleted some contents on my site, then i attempted to restore the missing content via import backup database. No error messages so I took it that it did its thing but then moving to the front end I didn't see any changes. I'm sure it's all me being a non a newbie to osclass. I would like to hear good things that you can share about osclass.

Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal etc are CMS.

Osclass is not a CMS but a Classified Ads script.

Not sure what exactly is the backup/restore you are talking about, but i can assure you that none of those problems exist. It is either your skills or a hosting problem.

Restore and backup and usually done via the Control Panel of your hosting company, using PHPmyAdmin.

The backup/import I was referring to is in back end (admin) of osclass under "tools" button. Isn't that how osclass users backup their sites? Why use PHPmyadmin when osclass has its own. I do understand what CMS is and the differences, I've tried them all just needed to hear some +feedback from users of osclass and Modern theme.
