I've been trying to get to know the .xml file and the ad importer plugin. I am getting a handle on the file itself but I keep wondering how to get the spreadsheet to .xml working in some sensible way. The Mac version of Office/Excel 2011 is not able to export a working xml in developer mode as far as I see.

Many programs reed the xml file and I can make a working xml file but inserting the listing info listing by listing, attribute by attribute, can not be what the ad importer is for. I would really like to know some good suggestions for preferred software.

@soundpost ad importer plugin is used to import the ads from other classified platforms like classipress or others but to do it proper way you need to have same custom attributes made in you new website,as you had in your old classified website.

I thought that the plugin would enable import from file for example business clients. I think that would be quite simple to do for a person with little coding experience. I have too little so that is a shame.

i just made my own script to transfer all the users from my old classipress website to osclass.

I am just starting my site. With little coding experience I was hoping to find a way to utilize the plugin with ready-made solution. I was meaning to import ads from professional dealers so that I can ad multiple listings. I thought that would be possible using a xls file, the plugin and right XML Editor(or such) but haven't found one yet.

All that I've found is that this is totally doable in Excel for Windows but not for Excel Mac edition. Haven't found any other program that directly does this but I haven't the energy to go through the many different XMLEditors. I guess it's off to buy a pc...
