It is possible to set expiration date for premium period??

Hello everybody
I would like to know if  is possible to create some plugin that allows the user to set his add as premium for a certain period of time and then become non-premium again.
for example: the standard expiration time for an ordinary add is 30 days, but an user only wants to set his add as premium for only 7 days (one week), it is possible???

I have been trying to do this for almost a month with no success     

I would like also to allow the users to set the add like premium for the desired number of days (or weeks) directly form the post item form.
Any help would be appreciated.
