Hi, forum members, this topic is gonna be a little longer and will contain multiple threads.
I will discuss with you all about ads everything I have learned during my eight year blogging career and 6 month experience with my site sellrbuyr.in.
this thread will contain
1. Adsense alternative that will pay you big time 2. Tips to place ads to get maximum clicks and earnings (eCPM/RPM also explained)
3. How not to compromise on bounce rate and also earn high 4. Will Facebook and google adwords campaign profit u?

I am putting forward the income in $ for Indian traffic. and also the expected earnings for US/Canada and UK traffic(learnt thru a lot of reading).

adsense is good. but some people especially south-asians go through a lot of distress with it. hence comes its alternatives.

The earnings are completely specialized for classified sites but the post in general could be applied for blogs too.

All the following ad networks require explicitly mentioned priavcy policy.

Generate one here: www.generateprivacypolicy.com. Create a page named "Privacy policy". copy all content. and place the link "Privacy Policy" above the fold.

1. Adsense altenative adversal:

This is the best network for getting Return of Hosting Charges and you could quickly get back your hosting bills.
The payout is just 25 $ so you could get your cheques easily. I got a cheque of 50$ using this. Approval is usually done in 1 day.

They say that you require 50k pageviews per month. But even if you have received 1500 pageviews /day recently thats enough for approval.

Type: CPM

eCPM - 0.20$ for Indian traffic.  1-2$ and even higher for US traffic.

which means you get 0.20$ if your ad get 1000 impressions.

You could email their support and get a reply on how to increase your income for your existing traffic.  They'll reply (Yes. It will never happen with adsense)

You could quickly sign up for adversal here.

2. media.net:

Type: CPC/CPM hybrid

 Yahoo/bing advertsing. Approval may take upto 2 weeks. there is a higher rate of rejection. But a professional site could get selected easily.

Pay out is 100$ I have hit the 75$ mark. now waiting for the rest 25$ to get reached. No minimum traffic. Provides the same ad contents as tribalfusion.

eCPM: 0.30-0.50$ for Indian traffic. 2-4$ even higher for US/UK traffic.

You could quickly request an invite for media.net.

This is not open to public. But once selected you get a dedicated personnel just for you. You could ask any doubts reg. your ad performance. reply is usally within 24 hours.

 3. superlinks:

if you are so into adsense and doubleclick, this network is best. Once you apply for this you'll be provided with a link to apply for double click ad exchange program.(hurray). If adsense does not accept you direcly. You could proceed using this coz you'll defintely get accepted this.

This network is new but is a great alternative. It increases CPM by replacing adsense ads with double clicks and also you could place upto 5 ads instead of 3, which means more earnings. Min 1lak pageviews per month. But they wont mind it anyway. You could provide a false data if you are receving low traffic.

You could quickly sign up for superlinks.

Here are a few bad ones.

qadabra: Very poor performance. But the payout is only 10$ and paypal based.

chitika: unless receiving a large search traffic from US. this is not the network I would recommend you.

I though may be I should say this Tip before anything else.

Bounce rate is an important site metric and a key performance indicator that you should know.

The lower the bounce rate is the more engaged are your audience indicating high performance of your site.

If you are wondering whats bounce rate. if an user comes to your site and closes your tab or leaves your site by clicking on an external link. Its called a bounce. If more users do so. Your bounce rate will be high.

The bounce rate should always be low. And a happy news for all classified site owners is that generally the bounce rate for classified sites is far more less than that of blogs(woo hoo!).

I am not going to share whats found in other blogs. these are my own findings through experiments.

But why not make it even lesser. My initial bounce rate was 50% now its an all time low of 30 % (You heard it right). Follow the tips below. Everything below is important.

Now put yourself in users shoes. almost 60% to 70% of users enter through home page. If they leave your site at that then you are gonna be in big trouble. So,

1. Remove all the ads in your homepage. Everything. Remove all flash banners (even if  you make money out of it). Your home page should contain internal links only. No ads whatsoever. Believe me.


2. The reason why most people quit your blog on homepage itself is because they are confused what to do next. (the truth has been spoken). 
 So whats the solution you ask: Call them to action: Use powerful words like.
"Post a Free Ad Now".
"Choose your favorite city" or "Choose your favorite region"
"Start browsing from the categories below"

3. A few other people whop accidentally land on your site. Do not miss them (they could be the person who could actually be of value). How not to miss them?

You sidebar comes to rescue. If you have a visible description field. you could use it too.

Add in sidebar "We are the {Country name}'s biggest classified ads. Post Your ads here. get customers.  Or if you are looking to buy something. Do so by selecting your category."

 

4. Cache your site. Use the following snippet of code. Add it to your htaccess or if you use latest version of osclass make use of memcache.

5. Keep your homepage size to the minimal. Remove all images unncessary.

6. Get a faster server. If you could afford it. VPS should be fine.

In coming tips I'll say about how not to compromise bounce rate even with 3rd party ads.

hmm. thats why I have mentioned them as alternatives and not the best ad networks.

You can try these ad networks in addition to adsense and make a good income. adversal is cool.
