I am getting the same thing in the Windows environment. I enter step 2 and right before adding categories and nothing happens.

I really need this fixed soon..

Make sure all the database info you entered is correct.

Yeah... it got access.

It creates all the tables, and then goes to step 2 Target and then it stops for me... I get progress circle and then nothing.

I also use Hostgator. I am having the same problem. Incorrect default osclass folder permissions seem to be the source for many of my initial installation/errors & problems with 2.3.7.

Do you get any errors in your error log?

I do not get any errors logged or displayed when it gets stuck on step 2 of installation. After entering the country and region, clicking the next button does nothing. I wonder if this is all related to some of the other problems I've been having with 2.3.7 and file permission settings? Such as 500 errors right off the bat with default new installation. Perhaps Hostgator's server security settings are too high? For example, /../oc-includes/osclass/install.php file permission is set to 775. Changing certain files to 755 seems to help. But I even noticed that the modern theme CSS "broke" after an experiment upgrading to 2.3.7. But the bcute theme worked just fine. I have a hunch that the default OSclass file/folder permissions are not compatible with Hostgator security settings.

Here are the errors I get right off the bat with a fresh installation.

File does not exist: /home/user/public_html/500.shtml, referer: http://www.mywebsite.com/ads/

SoftException in Application.cpp:256: File "/home/user/public_html/ads/oc-includes/osclass/install.php" is writeable by group, referer: http://www.mywebsite.com/ads/

This error is due to the fact that the install.php file permissions are set wrong they should be 644 for the file. Try changing them and if you get any other errors like this it means the file permissions are set wrong.

So far, these are the files I've had to change from 775 to 755 (but I don't know which files should be 644 vs 755, etc, so it's a crap shoot and who knows what security issues arise as unknowing user tinkers with file permissions to get a script to work).

oc-includes/osclass/install.php
oc-includes/osclass/install-location.php
oc-admin/index.php

And...the "modern" default theme bundled with osclass 2.3.7 (CSS styling) is also broken due to file permission settings, but I have no idea which files those might be. I either have to ask Hostgator why their servers are not "playing nice" with OSclass, or just wait for the devs to address this issue. Thanks for all the help!

Only folders need to be set at 755 files can be set at 644. I sent a pm to Juan letting him know and I would think he will fix the issue and update the download zip.

Thanks for checking into it. I contacted HostGator support regarding 775 conflicts and they said they could not change their security permission levels on shared hosting, as it would affect all users on the server. I guess that most osclass users would fall into the category of shared hosting, either at Hostgator or elsewhere. Please keep us posted if there's another download available that has file/folder permissions that won't conflict with HG. Thanks!

Hi exuus,

The solution was the change the folder permissions to 755 as 775 or 777 as most shared hosting do not allow files in folders with permissions greater then 755 to run.
