Please, specify which plugins and which errors are you getting.

Plugins are tested and known to work with version 3.3.2,, it perhaps occurs some specific errors with specific plugins

There are also many posts with plugin/theme fixes in the forums, the problem is that these fixes do not get into the download versions. This keeps new downloaders run into same issues already solved in forums. Nobody knows really who and how this should be maintained.... :(

Needs attention for sure.

Eric

This is exactly the problem _CONEJO, if nobody keeps track in the forums..... who's going to maintain?  :-\

I asked twice in the forums, where a fix was given for deleting watchlist items (so watchlist plugin is 1), who was going to update the plugin and there was no reply regarding OsClass. Read it here: http://forums.osclass.org/general-help/watchlist-and-3-2/msg80329/#msg80329

The other plugin I cannot remember, might have been a theme issue as well..... Meaning the fix is given in the forums but nobody updates the plugin itself. Thus later on nobody remembers what fix was given for what issue for what plugin and when.

I am not complaining just disappointed by the fact many people come up with simple/small fixes in the forums making a lot of difference for the OsClass experience by newbies whether it be css, language or code yet nothing is updated it seems. How can we change this for the better?

I have just updated Watchlist plugin with the changed described on said topic, problem is that Watchlist was marked as NOT compatible with 3.2 or higher. I will have to check why.

Please, have in mind I could only test plugins with latest version of Osclass

Thank you Daniel, I will see what 'issues/fixes' I can find and will try to bundle them in that thread.
I also think we need to take care of 3rd party plugins though I DO understand dev team cannot be held responsible for other mans work. Some plugins though could/should end up in core maybe and some are just so popular they need attention somehow. One MAIN thread 3rd party plugins with a sub topic per plugin where 'owners' and users can maintain them somehow?

I know that there are a couple of other persons in the forums who will most likely are willing to help out as well! :)

Last but not least, let's not only focus on plugins but also themes bugs/css and their language issues (if any)

Eric

That's not possible, there're more than forty (40) plugins in the official repository, it would drive me crazy to offer also support for non-official plugins. It's a lot of work.

What I could do, is to review them once (clean the code, review errors, make sure it works on latest version,...) and publish them on the market. I will need some support for original authors and some compromise to update their plugins once they're on the market. If they're no way compatible with latest version or need a lot of work I will probably not update them.

I will create a new post asking for third party plugins, but last one didn't get much support/replies =/
If you know some third party plugins, please tell me so I will contact with their authors and tell them.

Thanks

I think you misunderstood me, I do not expect you/OsClass to keep track & fix 3rd party plugins. I merely proposed to offer these 3rd party plugins a place in the forums where users and/or owners can work together in keeping those working with newer versions of OsClass.

I think plugins of 3rd party need some kind of grade system as well as comment from OsClass as well as users. So ONE review for current OsClass version done by OsClass including recommendation or the opposite would be good. After that 3rd party needs to either upgrade along OsClass upgrades or users in the forum take over.

I have no insights really at this moment what plugins are official and which are 3rd party but Tom has put effort in keeping track of all OsClass plugins.

@Tom, are you reading along??  ::)

Yes I am.

I have been taking the "fixes" and "updates' from forum contributors and plugin contributors, then updating the plugins or uploading the alleged updated plugins but I have NOT been testing in any version unless it happens to be the few used in site(s) I am involved in.

I have not made an intentional effort to upload any that are already on Osclass market unless they have been updated or improved causing them to be different than the market version.

As I suggested in the past. I think a group/team/committee needs formed for each major topic such as core testing, theme quality control and plugin quality control. This would in no way hurt or take credit from the core dev's and would relieve the pressures and time from them.

It would be inappropriate to name names because that would be tantamount to volunteering them so I won't name names (SmaRTeK) (Trains58554) (Frosticek) (Design) (Teseo) (RajaSekar ) (Jesse ) (and many others) that would likely be happy to help as their time permits...... ;)

There could easily be a whole new forum JUST for these "teams". Topics could be theme and plugin specific or team specific or whatever. As example, click www.osshaft.org/smf Username: user - Password: password. Completely separate from open forum.

Also have 500 sub-domains available for anyone joining these teams for there use but only 25 separate database positions available. Can free up more but seems like only a few should be needed.

I just think an internal structure like this would move Osclass forward at a much faster speed and overcome issues faster. The only direct involvement from core dev would be assigning team leader. Leader would manage team. Leader would submit to core dev updated (fixed) themes and plugins and core testing results.

Thoughts I have when thinking of other thoughts..... ::)
